Liscannor sits on the Wild Atlantic Way in west Clare, five minutes from the Cliffs of Moher and ten from Lahinch — one of the great links towns on the west coast. It's a small fishing village first, a launch point for the Burren and the Aran Islands second, and the birthplace of John Philip Holland, inventor of the modern submarine, entirely by the way. Space, sea air, and enough within a 45-minute drive to fill a week without repeating a day.
Getting here
From Shannon Airport — About 55km, under an hour by car via the N85 and N67. The nearest international airport, and the practical route in for most visitors.
From Dublin — About 260km, roughly 3 hours by car via the M6 and M18. No direct train — Ennis is the nearest station, with a taxi or transfer needed from there.
From Galway — About 70km, around an hour by car via the N67 coast road through Ballyvaughan and the Burren — a scenic route in its own right.

About five minutes by car. Liscannor is the closest village to the Cliffs on the Wild Atlantic Way, and the cliff-top trail connects the two on foot as well.
Is Liscannor a good base for golf?
Yes — Lahinch Golf Club is five minutes away, Trump International Doonbeg is around 30 minutes, and Ennis and Dromoland are both within 45. It's one of the more concentrated links-golf areas on the west coast.
