Sound familiar?
Be honest:
- You pick up your phone to check the time and lose twenty minutes to a stranger's kitchen renovation.
- You used to draw, paint or make things. Now the most creative thing you do all week is a group chat reply.
- You've said "we really need to get away" so often it's become a sign-off.
If you nodded along, you're due a proper break. Not another weekend on the sofa, but a few days at an artist, writers and nature retreat on a working farm in Wexford, with a paintbrush or a notebook in your hand instead of a phone.
Meet Tinnashrule Farm
Tinnashrule Farm Lodge is a cosy studio on a real, working farm in Ferns, Co. Wexford. Your neighbours are cows, hens and sheep. Your welcoming committee is Tom, the farm dog, who takes the job very seriously.
The studio has its own kitchen and bathroom, plenty of parking and EV charging on-site. There's also something it deliberately doesn't have: a TV.
That's on purpose. Tinnashrule was built for disconnecting. The WiFi is fast and reliable if you need it, but out here the most interesting thing to watch is the light changing over the fields.

An art studio on the farm
This is what makes Tinnashrule different. The farm's resident artist runs art sessions in her own studio on request, so your detox comes with a creative kickstart built in. Pre-booking is advised.
You don't need to be "good at art." You don't even need to have picked up a brush since school. The point isn't a masterpiece. It's the feeling of losing track of time because your hands are busy and your head is quiet.
Plenty of things are hard to do with a phone in your hand. Making art is one of them, and so is writing. That's exactly why it works.

Who it's for
Tinnashrule is a retreat for artists, writers and nature lovers, and for anyone who simply needs to switch off.
Couples: Paint side by side, cook dinner together in your own kitchen, and have the kind of slow conversations that only happen when there's no telly to fill the silence.
Friends: Bring your two closest pals (the studio sleeps up to three adults) and turn it into a mini art retreat. Expect wine and watercolours, a lot of laughing at each other's sheep portraits, and stories you'll still be telling in ten years.
Writers: Got a novel, a poem or a project you keep putting off? No TV, no notifications and a view of the fields make this the place to finally write it.
Nature lovers: Walk the fields, meet the animals and hear the farm wake up in the morning. It's the simplest digital detox there is.
A day at Tinnashrule
- Morning: Wake up without an alarm. Have a slow coffee and say good morning to Tom.
- Mid-morning: Take a farm tour (just ask) and meet the cows, hens and sheep up close.
- Afternoon: Spend a session in the art studio, or find a quiet corner to write. Paint the view, sketch the animals or fill a notebook.
- Evening: Cook dinner in your own kitchen, then play cards, read or talk until late.
- Night: Phones stay in the drawer. Sleep like you haven't in months.
What you'll bring home
- A sketchbook or notebook with a few pages you're secretly proud of
- Better sleep than you've had in months
- A camera roll full of sheep, sunsets and Tom
- The urge to book the next one before you've even left

Book your farm art escape
Tinnashrule Farm Lodge is an artist, writers and nature retreat that sleeps up to three adults, so it's ideal for couples, creatives or a small group of friends. Mention the art studio or a farm tour when you book and we'll set it up for you.
P.S. Send this to the friend you've been meaning to catch up with. Yes, by text. It's the last one, promise.
